I designed my own Cherry Blossom tattoo for my lower leg... had it done a couple of years ago, it looks lovely too... never felt a thing when they did it as they use a numbing cream...
I've booked an appointment this friday (2nd March) to have another, this time on my lower back, yes... a Tramp Stamp... hehe, it's a Cherry Blossom/Fleur De Lys design I did about a year ago... I've tweaked and improved the design and now I'm happy with it so time to get it done...
for folks who are unsure about having one regarding the 'pain', having a tattoo is, in my opinion, LESS painfull than epilating your legs... and to put folks who are 'needle phobic' at ease, they use numbing cream and you simply don't look at what they're doing, it's really nothing like having a injection because I hate having injections too....

when it comes to 'needles', I wouldn't class having a Tattoo as a 'Needle' all it does is vibrate so fast the wosrt you 'might' feel is scratching, but the numbing cream is very effective.... but I would never have a nipple done, or tongue... I find them a real turn OFF... but maybe one day I'll get a belly button ring done, when I've lost some weight off my tummy...

I have to say ladies that im the biggest girls blouse when it comes to needles, and the sight of blood especially makes me want to pass out lol.
Regardless i bit the bullet and had a phoenix tatt on my ankle that runs down to almost the top of my foot (which being the more bony part certainly hurt most) but overall i have to go with lisa on this one, its more of a scratching sensation and that was without numbing cream.
And Alexandra you are so right about the Albert, they are an acquired taste to say the least :s

been there.. done that.. again...! just got home from the tattoo studio, other than a couple of hours 'scratching' at my back.. my Tramp Stamp Tattoo is finally done, there forever.. and it looks FAB... not even 'a bit sore'.. but it'll itch like hell in a couple of days while it scabs over... good job I'm never tempted to to pick at them... I'll post a pic when it's heal up

I know I'm not going to get much love for this but here goes. I find tattoos to be un - feminine, un- sexy, a total turn off on a woman ( when I dated women ). Some women have more tattoos than Tommy Lee or a Hells Angel & it doesn't look appealing at all.I find dominatrixes more & more getting them. I see girls & young women with tattoos on their necks that look like prison tattoos. I equate them to prison & gangs. A lot of the tattoos I see do resemble jail tattoos. I also think of how that was a Jews id in Nazi Germany . When people tell me they are art I say tattoos that resemble jail gang tat's are the ones least artistic. And if you want to be an artsy student you go to art school. If it is art it should be in.. n a museum. I've concluded if you can't hang it on the wall or it is small it is a royal family piece Dutch royal .:

Tattoos can be art just as street art is art. It's when girls go to tattoo bars because their friends have one where it stops being anything more than body graffiti. I have two daughters one with and one without, both their husbands have tattoos as well. All have thought about what they want and have done it very deliberately. I am getting to the point of thinking I would like a small piece of art on my body but my age doesn't help. It may look nice now but once I sag a bit more will it look stupid.
So yes prison graffiti is a fad which most will live to regret but real tattoos may survive as art.

im probably biased seeing as im covered in them but to me tattooing is just a way of telling my story like collecting photographs as for the art angle ive had most of my work done by the same woman and its a very serious process comprimising between the two of us what my ideas are and what shes actually willing to put on my skin i seriously respect the fact that shes willing to say no to people with regards to what they ask her to do

I'am familiar with how much goes into tatoos, but most of the ones I see are not quality nor are they art. I have seen graffiti that is art, comic books by the 10's that are art. I have also seen some priceless museum pieces that were not art & how are they priceless ? Maybe because no one buys it. Art is all a matter of preferance, & taste. I don't have a problem with a small inconspicuous tatooo, even two if they're colorful, but if they tell your story, so do scars. Eva

To a large degree I can see your point about not being art. It's rather like the sunflower pics which everyone had in the 50s. It was art but became almost tat. My perspective was set by my family but when I looked on the street I was appalled. How can they wear that tat when good art is available. It's doesn't have to be small for me but just meaningful.

I had a large arm tatoo done about 5 years ago, i don't regret the tatoo, but i have thought when i see myself en femme, i don't think it look's rather appealing. but 5 years ago i was'nt on transtastic !! lol x Elizabeth x

Not sure how I stand on this girls, I really dislike the manly dagger and heart tatoo's, but would love to have a little butterfly, rosebud or ladybird in a discreet place! I hate needles too but if I could the first thing I would do is have ears pierced twice so I could wear some lovely hoops.

I have sevreral tatts on my back & upper arm, I consider them to be artful & also they have meaning to me. If I dont want them seen it is easy to cover them (wearing girly clothes it is a bit harder), I agree there are a lot out there that look like crap, but also many more that are very nice, a bit like trannies really. (oopps shouldnt have said that probably) lol

Katherine I'm with you. Ears first then think about a nice discreet tattoo. Maybe a flower just opening?

Oh I hope you don't think I meant I didn't like those kind of tatoo's on real men Kimmy!!!
just meant I would dislike having one.
It is your own choice what we allow to be done and do to our bodies and I quess that's why a lot of the girls that are on here dress! lol
