As has been mentioned frequently, it's down to personal circumstances.
I've shaved my legs etc. for as long as I can remember......certainly all the way through my Army career......and then progressed on to arms, hands and armpits, not forgetting my chest.
I'm not that hairy and also quite fair so it's not really that noticable but it is noticable that I have no hair.
My circumstances are different to most, I have tattoos on my arms so need to keep them covered when I'm dressed anyway but I prefer the look and feel of bare skin hence my approach to 'grooming'.
My way around keeping arms covered is mainly through using cardigans (not the type your Gran would wear) or long sleeved tops. This obviously has restrictions through the hight of summer etc. but again if you choose the right sort of fabrics and looks you can still remain cool whilst staying covered.
I've noticed a few comments offering advice along the lines of, 'just shave, nobody will notice or if they do they won't say anything'.........I'd take that sort of advice very lightly!!!
I can assure you people DO notice and although they may not say anything directly to you they WILL say things to other people. I talk from experience so trust me on this one.
I'm not attempting to scare anyone I'm just highlighting a fact.
I carry quite a few traits over in to my male life....very long hair, shaved legs, shaved arms, tinted and shaped eyebrows and more often than not, especially leading up to nights out, longer than 'normal' nails. Most, if not all of these have been noticed and commented upon at one time or other by other people both at work and in public.
I was recently 'outed' at work so not surprisingly there are no comments along these lines any more as the people that were commenting now know why I look the way I do so don't want to get on the wrong side of Diversity & Equality.
The bottom line is you shouldn't have to worry, justify or explain yourself but sadly you do sometimes. Just be cautious of what you do as it may be noticed and may be commented on or get peoples tounges wagging and if you're not prepared for the possible repercussions it could put you in a rather awkward situation both at home and at work.
Think on..........:o/
