No, April, it is not illegal to dress as a tranny, either in or out of a cab/taxi. Likewise it is not illegal to use your femme name, as long as it's not to commit a criminal offence.

When I first came out and had the 'tranny madness', I went into Manchester two nights a week for a while and got cabs. I lost count of the come-ons I got from cab drivers. Its particularly difficult (now funny) when you are trying to sneak down your road quietly at 2am with a cabbie shouting 'Come on Luv, giv us a cuddle!'. Cabbies did find a tranny genuinely fascinating though, despite their apparent right wing attitudes. I remember make one laugh til he cried when I was telling him that when I was small I used to watch Mr.Ben on TV and always hoped he'd change into a showgirl/nurse/princess

Well i have used cabs b4 and never really had any problems. in my experience cabs drivers have been very nice

It is legal to use a cab dressed as long as you behave in a way that is unlikely to be considered obscene or to cause a breach of the peace! however I've lost count of the number of minicabs I have taken where I have sat with the drivers hand up my skirt bewteen my legs for almost the entire journey! I used to use a couple of regualr cars when going to the Philbeach before it closed and often got a 'discoun' for favours rendered! once many years ago, I gave up going to my destination after a particularly long and heated session on the back seat with a lovely cabby called Charles!.....thats the only cab I ever took where I was paid!

The only time it is not legal to travel dressed is if you have to use your passport as you have to be what your passport says and match the photo image on it! So if your passport says Male and has a photo of you looking like a guy then you have to by law look like the image.

How ever it is legal to travel by any other means and to be refused use of a service based on you being "dressed" is illegal as this is discrimination! ( This is based on the current UK laws ) Hope this helps xx
