Suicide Prevention

  • click to rate

It’s been estimated that Transgender people are twice as likely to think about and attempt suicide as LGB people.  The suicide rates for Transgender people are far, far higher than the national averages in most countries.  It’s difficult to know exactly though, because gender identity is not normally recorded on death certificates.

However, in the United States, a survey carried out in 2015 by the National Center for Transgender Equality showed that around 40% of adults who took part reported having attempted suicide at some stage in their lifetime.  That’s nearly nine times the normal rate of attempted suicide among the general US population.

We want all of our members to stay safe and the good news is that there are many good people out there who are able to help those of us who are feeling so depressed that we just want it all to stop.  This is fixable.  We just need to allow others to help.

Below is a list of mainly support hotlines for several English speaking countries which are generally where our members come from.  Most are able to offer additional support and resources in each of their respective countries.

I want you to promise me that if you ever find that you can’t cope, that you will try calling one of these hotlines before you do anything silly. Promise?

  • F UCK THIS S HIT SITE I found myself and liked who I had become - it was everyone else that didn't like it and they made damn sure that I knew as much (cis and trans people alike). I am not a TV so not sure if you are responding to me or not. I have been on hormones for 4.5...  more
  • Terri S I have tried to live as a male, but I have still got bumps etc. I wish you all the luck in the world and a good future. I know all about people and narrow-minded B's they are. Been rejected by employers and no amount of laws will stop that. You are...  more
  • Terri S I will try to update this soon, but no I know the difference between someone who is trans and a person that finds the dressing role-playing a turn on. I did not want to say too much about Sex and the forums tend to cut bits out. But I have fewer...  more
