Right, I'm going to Manchester next week and haven't a clue about what is where or the best place to park or the carpark closing times.

My experience of Manchester is the end of the M62, so can anyone give me some advice or a potted guide to Manchester TV world? I've been on my own many years ago before the IRA bomb and a few times since (never dressed) with other people who know their way around so I just followed not really knowing where abouts I was.

I will be dressed and want to do the Christmas Markets, shops and a walk down Canal St. but more importantly to be able to find my way back to the carpark at home time.

So come on girls, let's hear some advice.

    Thanks, xx

    Hi Pauline

I will send you a detailed explanation tomorrow.

Cheapest parking is about £3 a day which requires a longish walk (so you will need flats)

I will give you reasonable directions on finding Xmas Markets and Canal St, which are within 10 mins walk. Would advise you go on Wed as that way you can go to Manchester Concord in the evenings.

    hugs

Thanks Pauline! I've been advised to park on a car park at Charles St. which looks to be not far from canal st. I've got some great knee boots that are very comfy for walking. x

    Hi Pauline

Charles Street is OK as its nearer to the Village.

The one I was thinking of what is called the Boddingtons Car Park. That is only £3 per day. Its on Bury New Road almost at the end of it - just after Strangeways Prison and a Travel Lodge Hotel on the left side of the road.
If you take exit 17 on M60 and head towards Manchester that is the A56 and Bury New Road. FromJunction 17 its about a 15-20 minute drive to the end of Bury New Road - depending on the traffic. Even without sat nav its easy enough to find.

From the car park its about a 10 minute walk past the Cathedral to Deansgate and the bottom of Market St. If you go up Market St and turn right into St Anne's Sq that is the start of the Christmas Market which goes all the way up to the main part which is outside the Town Hall.

Canal Street is about 10 mins walk from the Town Hall along Princess St till you get to the New Union Pub.

Whichever car park you choose I hope you enjoy your day out.

    hugs
