My Molly

This is not meant to be offensive but just a bit of fun so I hope nobody takes it the wrong way!

    My Molly

Twas early in the morning. The sun began to rise.
I stood upon the Quarterdeck and watched it climb the skies.
Twas the ending of a long night watch and my mind began to stray,
To the subject of my Molly, who was oh so far away.

I met her just a year ago, in a tavern near the docks.
She’d flashing eyes and ruby lips and flowing raven locks.
She was tall and straight, had an elegant gait, her legs were long and slender.
She sat her down and stroked my cheek and kissed me soft and tender.

I said: “I am a rough sea dog, with very little money!”
She laughed and said: “I like you, still!” her voice like golden honey.
I paid the bill and walked her home, to her little attic room.
She left me standing at the door but said “Please come back soon!”

I courted her for several weeks and finally she said:
“When you take home tonight, I’ll take you to my bed!”
We went into her tiny room, to the bed I made my way.
And when she took her clothes off, she took my breath away!

But now I’ve left her far behind to sail the sea once more.
I can’t forget my darling Moll, left on that distant shore.
And when I’m back in England, I’ll see her when I can.
For Molly is my one, true love, e’en though she is a man!

The title of this gives the game away, Mal! If I'm not mistaken 'molly' was Regency/early Victorian slang for an effeminate, even a transvestite, man who was usually 'on the game'. Nice poem all the same. x x

Ahhhh Trines, we should reflect on the past with an ale in an old pint pot at the 'Molly House' Pub over Sparkle!
