why add a friend?

So I'm like very curious, there are a few people on Transtastic that add
friends without asking or first chatting to their "victim",
I'm not being shitty about this but like whats
the point if they never message or chat to their victim again? is it just
"collect as many friends as possible? or maybe "Ive got more friends than
you so I must be more popular?
I don't know or understand why they do it.
In the past Ive deleted "friends" that have not contacted me or chatted since
accepting their friend request mainly because I feel like ive been used for
"brownie points". I would love to hear other girls points on this,
my GF Tara tells me to just ignore it but I just gots to know.......

I've done the same on FB, but here I'm not as worried ,because I don't keep anything related to my family and close friends here.

I've added people I've not spoken to and had other's do the same to me...but that's only because of the above.

If I had pics of my son and family on here, I'd have very few people on my friends list. I guess it depends on what and how much info and personal stuff you have on here that could dictate who you add.

    xx
