Cyber Bullying

Many of you are on Face Book and its interesting to note that in the UK Nicola Brookes has just won a high court action against FB, to force them to reveal the names of cyber bullies ( see details in the link to the Guardian) who conducted a hate campaign against her.

I know at least one person who has suffered cyber bullying on FB, and they blocked the people doing it. In the case of Nicola Brookes that didn't work and the police were not interested in helping. The bullying was so severe that she took court action.

Please be aware that cyber bullying is not tolerated here on Transtastic and that anyone found doing it will be removed from the site by the moderators. Fortunately it seems to be a rare occurrence, but if anyone feels they are being pestered or bullied then please message one of the Transtastic Team of moderators.

We encourage lively debate and different opinions here, so please don't forget that other people's views may be different to yours but they are equally valid. As Marcus Aurelius said ...everything we hear is an opinion not a fact.

Bullying... I know it well. I used to get grief off people all through school and at work.... I found the best way to tackle the bullies is expose them and let everyone know what they're doing to you... you be amazed how many people step up and stand beside you.... Bullys do not like to be exposed as they usually work alone or very small groups of 3 or 4 idiots...

Cyber bullying is easy to control, simply block them and don't respond as they thrive on your reaction, on Facebook it is easy to control who can see you or contact you... but remember if you are bullied, contact the websites support team straightaway and don't suffer in silence

Agreed, blocking and deleting is the best way to stop it as there is one important thing that alot of people forget, You don't have to respond to it and yes that is correct, ignoring it will get boring for the bully. I was bullied heavily at school and it made my later life in making friends alot harder as I regressed more into shyness and viewed any friendship with suspicion as one person used his "friendly" manor to coax me into getting picked on. I always used to think that I was bullined because people secretly knew what i was. Cyber bullying is a complete whole new level of bullying as it goes into the home aswell as on the outside, but with cyber bullying, you can always "delete" or you can print off each message and show it to all the people you know so they can see what low lifes do, but always remember, a bully is usually the product of being bullied so it may pay to ask the person who is doing it "So what are you being bullied for then?"
