Mugging

Probably not a subject that many of you think about. But as many of us live in a country where mugging takes place every 2 minutes - and those especially vulnerable are people under 25 and students.
I am not aware of the incidences of Tgirls being mugged but it must happen, even in safe places. So please be careful when you are out dressed (or even in drab) and take the same precautions that RGs do - at night be careful where you park your car and try to walk in areas with street lights. A lot of that is common sense.
The BBC is Showing a programme tonight at 9.00 pm GMT on BBC called "Mugged". http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-17589574

Maybe some of you have stories about being mugged or nearly mugged? I was mugged in the mid 80s in Paris - fortunately only my coat was ripped and my wallet stolen; but it was a grisly experience.

I think Collette has the right idea. Whack the little demons hard and quick - but do be careful as well! X

Luckily I've never been mugged, but came damn close last year in Birmingham, me and 2 friends were coming back from Hurst St, when 3 guys approached us as we went thru an underpass near the hotel....all I can say is thank God one of us had the courage to tell them what she could do to them, and as a result THEY fled....I dread to think what would have happened if Carrie hadn't been there....what upset me more was the fact that Carrie felt really bad after the incident, and she shouldn't have, she saved all of us......It's taught me to be so careful while out now....and always get a taxi back to a hotel...

A few years ago i was in Santa Cruz, with a couple of friends, twins from japan, he is like me a t woman, anyway we were walking to another bar, when 3 oil slicks came out of a a building we were passing, got the normal crap from them, then one pulled a knife and shouted for our handbags, before i could even move, the twins had tore into them, 3 oil slicks and the gutter said hello, they are both well into martial arts, later they showed me some simple moves on how to protect myself, so the moral is a little training can help. hope this helps xxx

Suzy(by the way hello) I agree with both you and collette, just this time it was taken out of my hand/feet/knees/fists, it happened so fast, the oil slicks just picked on the wrong people. im not a aggresive woman, but i can look after myself, also i can run, not fast but a few well aimed kicks, works wonders xxxx

Hi Jallie, I'm all for defending yourself, and it always makes me smile when an eejit gets what coming by picking on the wrong person. But if there is a way out, take it as it only takes a lucky strike to take you out, and that is a worry.

    Be safe xxx

As an ex martial artist (well on tkd) and not black belt - I am totally with the thought avoid trouble- indeed you have to be cos if you strike as a martial artist you do not want to strike more than once or twice- and just suppose you connect with full force and the idiot loses balance and smashes his head open - eeeeek - neither your head or his head being bashed is a good alternative - not to mention resultan legal shit!!!!!

I never have. I used to go to Detroit and I grew up around Flint and I saw and met a lot of homeless guys, but it never turned violent.
