    Hello all,

I know there are a few large retail chains that sell clothes and accessories for the transgender scene, but is there a list of these businesses, or is it a "hit & miss" thing, depends on what member of staff you get and how their day has been.

Through out my years of dressing, I have found that certain businesses in Portsmouth such as Matalan, H&M, M&S, Ann Summers, Next, New Look, Debenhams all are very helpful, especially when picking the right size, they have asked me if I wanted to try it on, to make sure its ok, even when I have been in male mode, I got asked, but that was when i first started to actually have the nerve to go out fully dressed.

I also found that the charity shops and smaller independent clothes shops are just as helpful, one shop in the town centre in particular, she couldnt do much more for me, friendly, helpful, and to the point where she would actually say that doesnt suit me or look right and made me look like a hooker etc, but instead try this on, she was running back and forth getting sizes from the back while I am standing in the changing room in undies, I cannot remember the name of the shop but its in Arundel St opposite Debenhams and has a yellow shop sign outside, and has always got sexy feminine items in the window.

I think if you know your size then its a matter of preverence to which shops you use ! i know my size and have always gone in any shop be it agent provoc or tk max and bought the clothes i like and shoes we are slightly diffrent in are build shape so fem is always going to be difficult just depends on your actual size and weight if it looks good but ive never had aproblem buying clothes its just a matter of having the front to go in and be carefree

Hi Nicola, Thanks for replying, yes I totally agree, if you have the confidence to go out shopping for new items, knowing that you will be asked if you want to try them first, as well as speaking to the shop assistants, I wasnt to sure how I would feel the first time I went shopping, I had through the town centre early that month to go to a t-girl friendly bar on the over side of the precinct, but I felt so good, no abuse or insults or micky talking or name calling, instead walked through head held high and inside my heart was going so fast, I had to slow my walking down to try and slow my heart beat down, I went into a large clothing store and looked around at what was on the racks etc, tried a few things on and went to pay for them in the queue, with women both sides of me, I felt so happy that I had finally did it, and not a word said or anyone laughing, they just asked is that all and took the payment, I felt so great inside that I had to go to the next shop and eventually even went to the sex shop, bought a new dildo, looked at the tgirl dvds so he knew I was a tgirl or a woman who liked tgirls, also picked up a outfit and went upto the counter, the person at the till asked if thats all I wanted, not sure if he was actually making a pass at me or if he was being genuine about the tiems for sale etc, I smiled nicely and spoke in my feminine soft voice, no thanks that will do for the mo honey, and paid and left he said to come back soon as he had some new items coming in, so I asked like what, he said anal plugs, more sexy outfits, vibrators etc, and was welcome to try it on before buying he said he could close the shop early as it normally stays open til 8pm some nights, definately think he wanted me now, think he also knew I was a tgirl and not a woman but it obviously turned him on to a point.

    Samantha xx

I will admit I have never had any issues whatsoever when buying things off the rail to even trying on a pair of shoes.
At the end of the day they want the sale & you pay the money.

Gurls, If you are ever in the Midlands and venture anywhere near Swadlincote (sleepy place in South Derbyshire) then go to Fashion X-change (also on line). I know the girl that runs it and she is fine with us...in fct she is a gem x.
Changing rooms and probably a cuppa as well.

I have found most stores and independents to be no problem. My only problem was at the Haywards Heath Dorothy Perkins where the staff were very snotty, unfriendly and demeaning. Other stores of the same chain have always been good.
