In my experience as a former - and it must be said, not very good - drag artiste - I found that many of those who openly condemned the art of cross dressing were often more than a little interested in the subject that they would care, or even dare, to admit - even to themselves. They tended to return night after night, so they must have enjoyed the experience. On one particular day I cornered one of the hecklers and asked why he hadn't the guts to try cross dressing, since he was obviously interested. He broke into tears and courageously admitted that it had always been something he wanted to try.

He tried it - and surprise, surprise, he ended up loving it! He adopted the name 'Pauline' and I have often wondered just how many more 'Paulines' there must be out there. Quite a lot, I suspect!
