    Hi Girls,

Found this on Woman & Home - its a makeover tool for you to try different wig styles and colors without actually having to wear one. Its a bit fiddly to set up, but those of you who are good with photo shop etc will have lots of fun. You need to pick a photo that you can crop and is a full face one. I used the one of me shown here.

    Enjoy

    hugs

    Vicky,
The other alternative, if you have the courage, is to go to a wig shop and try on various models. Cal them and make an appointment - that is if there are any near to you.

    Hey Vicky,

I'm with Pauline on this - go into a shop - you'd be surprised how many of them are simply used to guys going in looking for girly wigs. You'll defo get the best style to suit.

there are some good wigs on ebay, the best seller I found on there was Fumiwigs, but for some reason they are no longer there, its worth while buying a reasonable priced one to find what style and colours suit you best, before spending over £100+ on a style then realise it doesnt suit your shape of face or you dont like the colour, I prefer long straight hair in black or dark brown, but also had a great long wavy one in brown with highlights and a fringe and centre parting, very sexy look and feminine.

If you want to try actually a shop which has private trying on booths try Blackpool.

    http://www.alternativelook.co.uk/

My only recommendation the lighting in the shop can affect how the wig naturally looks but apart from that its a good shop with great customer service :-) another site Ive found useful to actually look at the wigs in 360 degrees (havent bought from there) is http://www.purelywigs.co.uk.

I have used simply wigs, mistresses (back up wigs price) and visited alternative look.

    Lucy,
Totally agree. They are great - and they give good advice too on wig accessories - tape, shampoo etc. The cyber wig was just for those girls that cant/wont pluck up the courage to try on a wig.

    I use http://www.annabelleswigs.co.uk/
based in Brighton. They are reasonably priced and very friendly.
Pauline's right about wig shops, they seem to be used to T-girls going in and can be ver helpful in selecting a shape and style/colour that works, go for it!

Does anyone know where I could get a big wig for a big head? My hat size 64cm and most wigs look ridiculously small.
Jezebel, who used to perform at the Way Out club, had her boyfriend Gary combine two or more wigs into one. Giving her a fabulous, full, luxurient head of hair.

    Feefy,

Paula Young which is a US based company used to sell "large" wigs. My hat size isnt as big as yours, but getting on for 60cms, and their average and large both fit. Link to UK base is here http://paulayoungwigs.co.uk/
Try Paul's Hair World in manchester ( if you can visit) - if not call on phone or use website. They are very helpful - http://www.pauls-hair-world.co.uk. Other one is Andrea's recommendation in Brighton ( see post above you)

    hope that helps

    Thanks Pauline!

Your original post reminded me that I had a lot of fun a couple of years ago with a free CD from a magazine that allowed me to see how I would look with varieties of wigs and makeup and even contact lenses!

If anyone wants to see them, I've uploaded a selection of eight and they're in 'Feefy's Wig Simulations' in the photo albums (I haven't worked out yet how to get a sample into this post)

It took a bit of courage the fist time I got a wig (actually second, the first was off ebay), but after getting a few wigs I quickly realized they neaded cutting and styling on your head to get the best results.
That was the second hurdle, to get a hairdresser to cut it for me.
Luckily I found a friendly Burmese woman on Milton Keynes market happy to do it, I even found it hard to get her to accept any money for doing it.
Basically I walked in dressed as a guy with the wig/s in a bag, sat in a chair, had the gown wrapped round me then put on the/a wig.
After adjusting the wig the rest proceeded as normal.
She was convinced I was in the theatre or something despite me telling her I wasn't.
