Comments and likes

So far, I've found the updated site to be more versatile. Indeed, now it's possible to upload pics to any album on mobile, something that was never possible before. The only thing that is baffling me, and it may be just me not realising what to do (perhaps it's an age thing, or, dare I say it, medication) is where have all the comments gone? Any photo with comments shows the statistics, so many views, so many comments, but I can't see them anywhere. Only new comments and likes are visible. It's the comments I'm bothered about. That's the valuable stuff, the interactions with others, what going online is all about and The magic that holds it together, to me, that is.

Hi Katie. I know you've replied, but I'm unable to see it. X

I was wondering the same, Julia, about the comments.

Now I see your comment Mal, but Katie's comment still isn't showing. It came through as a notification, as did your comment, which is even more baffling. Not only because I've no idea what was in the reply, because it isn't here, but also because it seems to be selective. It's all temporary though, as all these teething troubles. It often takes a few modifications, usually infact, when new or updated software is in use. These little glitches will be fixable. X

I'm sure they will be sorted in the fullness of time, Julia! x

I've just tweaked some setting so please try posting a comment on a photo or album again and see if it works now.

With both my existing albums and individual photos, there are stats recording number of views and comments, but comments themselves are missing. There are no stats relating to likes and no list of those who have previously liked stuff. It is a shame to lose these little interactive elements...

Let's see if we can get them back Quenna. I'll talk to the developers in the morning.

Same here - the stats for old comments are there, but no comments. All the other stuff Quenna mentioned too is missing. I do hope it can all be retrieved, as that's the basic interactive info that all other sites convey and it would be a shame if Transtastic was to become the only one not able to.

I have emailed the developers and hope to hear from them within 24 hours.

One other thing which has come to light since my last entry here, is that I can't respond to friend requests or album suggestions. The info comes up, as in 'you have 2 friend requests' or 'you have 12 album suggestions', but no email notifications and when I follow the link there's nothing there. Besides that, these notifications are no longer included in the updates list, meaning I can't see anywhere who has sent an album suggestion or who has made the friend request. I don't know if anyone else has encountered the same problems. If this is the same for others, it makes the site very limited indeed as these are, to me, very important elements of site functionality. Apologies for sounding like I'm complaining. I just feel it's important to make these things known.

As ever with software changes, Julia, patience from all of us is required, and your positive feedback is a big big help.

After being here 5 years (though sometimes it seems like ten or twenty) almost all of that as a site administrator and moderator, I have seen many many software changes. And I have always been "front of house" defending the changes, even when they haven't or didn't work under Beckie's ownership.

That is not a criticism, I was just doing my job. You could say that I am doing the same now; but its hugely different. Katie is not my friend, like Beckie will always be; I have no axe to grind either way about the changes taking place.

What I do know is that the timing for the takeover , which I have known about for ages, was not ideal with a family funeral for Katie to handle. Despite that and all the issues we had last week with whataboutery accusations of the site being mined or hacked, and I do hope those have been put to bed for good, Katie kept in contact with Beckie and I as I gave them feedback on what was happening.

It is never ideal when changes take place, but like Google no longer supporting Vista with chrome software changes will happen. Change is part of living.

Maybe Julia you should put yourself forward as a site moderator or administrator? Transtastic under katie's leadership will need enthusiastic, dependable people like you.

Julia, you are an ace member here - please think about my suggestions

    hugs

    Pauline xxx

Thanks for the feedback Julia. I will add all that to our list of things to be sorted out.

    Hugs, Katie
