I am a techie, and I have been interested in the new software upgrade and why it has been so flakey.
While looking through the Transtastic website code in my browser, I have discoverd the following HTML tag
<div id="janrainEngageShare" style="display:none">Share</div>
Of interest was the "janrainEngageShare"
Following through on this, I arrive at the technology behind Janrain on janrain.com/
On reading about the services that janrain provides, a number of things jump out at me
Firstly, this statement on Janrain
"Profile Data Storage"
"Automatically collect, store and manage demographic, psychographic and behavioral customer profile data in a flexible, powerful cloud database. Easily visualize, segment and update customer profiles to enable true personalized marketing."
There there are a number of other tracking areas that it does
* tracking and storing 'flow' through individual social media websites (the page you came from, where you went next)
* tracking collecting and storing 'flow' across other social media websites, e.g. twitter, facebook, etc
* tracking collecting and storing comments made, feedback received etc. across multi social media sites
* The list goes on and there are a huge range of analytics being collected
Essentially, Janrain collects as much data as possible, analyses behaviour, demographics, likes, dislikes, locations, favourites etc, and then Janrain make this data available to their subscribers, and it does this across multiple websites, social media, emails and shares the data across the Janrain subscribers.
So, from a Transtastic perspective, can someone tell us what data you collect about your members, what data do you store and or collate, what the data is used for, and who else has access to the data.
My concern is that while Transtastic in itself may use and store a minimal ammount of this data, other social media (and other) websites that subscribe to Janrain, will also have acces to this all this data via Janrain.
Can you provide an answer, and then also update the site terms and conditions to reflect the security, privacy and use of the data collected by the third parties that the Transtastic site uses.
Thanks
Halins

I'm not sure I understand all the techie stuff but it sounds a little disturbing to me.

Hi,
As the original perpetraor and cage rattler, I just thought that I would let you know that I have posted an update onto the Site Technical Support Forum.
I hope it will add some clarification about some of my concerns.
Thanks,
Halina
