I have been dressing for some years now on and off and by no means an expert. It's one of those things you learn along the way and as you go. It can be an expensive hobby with accessories just as golf is one of those expensive hobbies that one might not realize. Part timers never really get the impact like the full time dressers and try to make the best of the opportunities that they get. So here are some tips that apply to myself that may help those just starting out.

1. Attitude- Think like a girl... They are not that different from guys. I work nights with women and trust me when they are together they act and think just as guys do. Think sweet as it will reflect in your persona and in your actions while dressed.

2. Skin- Use lots of lotion and moisturize it. Your face might look flawless but if your hands look like they have been through the mill it will be a dead giveaway. Clean your nails. Hygiene is an important detail. Shaving is a milestone detail, if you are able, shave away all hair. This might be an exhausting portion for some just staring as some people are just very hairy. For those that are, use nair as a starter. After that, shaving isn't so bad if it is maintained and is more or less just touch ups and takes up up less time to dress if this is not such a factor. Plus it feels more feminine to be smooth.

3. Wigs- Unless you already have long hair, you might want to invest in a wig or wigs. You can buy online but sometimes what you buy online is not what you receive in the mail. This can be hit or miss. Avoid the Halloween type wigs! Beauty shops sell these at reasonable prices that wont break the bank to much. Look for types with fastening clasps in the back to secure them a little better so they do not slide around your scalp or around a wigcap. For 25-30 dollars you can get a decent quality wig. Not sure about UK folks. As time goes by you will eventually buy more until you find a suitable that you are happy with that conforms to your face well. If you have a chiseled face with very masculine features, look for longer hair that can drape around cheeks as to not accentuate those features. It's all trial and error. Find one that can be brushed.

4. Makeup- You don't need the best of the best or the most expensive. I have found cheap makeup that works better than the expensive ones. I have watched many youtube clips for advice on applying and repetition makes for better results. With a freshly shaven face apply a foundation that matches your skin tone, more heavily on shaven areas. For those that beard easily or shadow faster apply a reddish or orange lipsticks around those areas and smudge on, this will contrast a 5oclock shadow. Foundation or concealer should be the only thing that is heavily applied. The less makeup you use the better. Some just have to use more. All depends on the individual and your preference. A little blush goes a long way unless you are going for a drag look. Play around with different colors for eye shadow and see what suits you. I prefer contemporary colors for a more natural look. Just remember aside from lipstick, the brighter the color the sluttier the look. So it depends on the look you are shooting for. Apply you mascara last or even eyelash falsies. Sometimes mascara can smudge on face. So don't spend a lot to begin with. Eventually you will once you discover the look you like. If I spend more on makeup i chose to buy a quality eyeliner pen mechanical type. Avoid pencils they require a little pressing and arent as precise. Avoid liquid eyeliner to start with. Your hand wont be quite steady to start using this type of eyeliner. I love good lipstick... Juicy lips make for a wet shiny look. Anyways, look on youtube, so many people have great tips and and you are bound to take a little of all types of ways that work for you.

5. Clothes- Usually newbies start out with just underwear and is a good place to start. A couple pairs of panties and bras to start with and maybe some hosiery of your taste. Prance around in that for a bit and then move on to a few wardrobes... as your budget allows. I started out with Girly shorts and tshirts to begin with. There is the hesitance to shop as a guy for some, so online might become your only source if this is an issue. Eventually you will want more lingerie and clothes, so again is a matter of preference and the look you like. Sometimes I like to look a little slutty, girly, or classy. Depends on your mood and the occasion for dressing. Shoes vary in size and I would advise black heels as a universal. Heel size in accordance with your height. Black heels pretty much can go with anything. But I recommend this as a starter to play around with. Something about heels that bring out a little femininity. It also gives you time to practice walking in them. You acquire things with time, unless money is not an issue. If you are in hiding with this from a spouse or partner, well that's a different topic all together.

6. Putting it all together- This was just a quick post so it may or may not be as easy as it appears as a post. When dressed and en femme, there is the desire to show your efforts or maybe the reluctance. It depends on your closet degree. Maybe starting on webcam that reveals you in only locations away from your vicinity as to not chance you being identified, if this is a concern. If there is a reason you are hiding or closeted, those reasons may be more important than dressing itself and you need to decide if it is worth it. It could be a matter of family, friends, occupations, or whatever reasons you have. There is nothing worse than being new and dressed and closeted and having someone knock on your door knowing you are there. So planning ahead is just as important as any of the tips i provided earlier. So if you need advice or just need to talk, I would be happy to do so regarding these issues.

Unless you have great skin foundation is everything. Get the correct colour for your skin, add a little eyeliner on your bottom lid and some lippy and you are away!
