Your Top Transgender Movies

There are rather a lot of transgender movies - many more than I thought there were, which I discovered after looking at Wikipedia. I have seen a few - from Some Like it Hot to Tootsie and even the Rocky Horror Show (though that is better as a live performance with audience participation in my opinion).

Here is a selection of many of the films and television dramas.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross-dressing_in_film_and_television

Out of the transgender movies that I have seen I guess my favourite is "Just Like a Woman" from 1992 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Just_Like_a_Woman_(1992_film) - because when I saw it in the late 1990s it reflected my own situation; although my ex wife did not throw Pauline's clothes out of the window. And I could empathise with the main character and his/her journey. My 2nd fave is Priscilla Queen of the Desert - when I saw it it just gelled with the way I felt at the time..

I enjoyed La Cage aux Folles, seeing it in French in Brussels in the late 70s with my Belgian secretary, but that it's not really a TG movie it's more of a drag queen comedy. Almost a farce and much better and funnier than the English language remake - The Birdcage

The list of transgender characters in movies is amazingly long and there are trans men as well as trans women in a variety of challenging roles and plots, many of which are portrayed very sympathetically.....in many cases. We are rarely portrayed as serial killers, the only one I can think of there is the dreadful Michael Caine movie "Dressed to kill", so check out the list and see how many you have seen and which ones you liked or enjoyed...or empathised with.

So come on boys and girls - which are your top transgender movies and why, and which are your favourite roles? Maybe you would like to be the hero(ine) in one of them?

    hugs

    Pauline xxxx

How about Ticked-off trannies with knives? It's a violent movie but the girls look fantastic.

OMG no-one has mentioned Breakfast on Pluto, not only a brilliant film (directed by the same fella that wrote the crying game) but Cillian Murphy looks absolutely stunning as a woman, and also Dallas Buyers Club has a tranny in it who won an oscar for best supporting actor - look beyond the trash (already mentioned in this thread lol) and theres some good shit out there.....mind you saying that if they did a ticked of trannys with knives 2 then i would like to be considered for a part in it

A Woman's Way - The English release title for the Greek film Strella.

I watched this last night. I normally cant be arsed with subtitles but this film came highly reccomended and OMFG. This film certainly isnt anything like a typical story of a TS. Its completely mental. I'm not using the word mental lightly. This film absolutely blew me away. Its not based on sterotypical characters at all unlike a lot of films involving a lead TS character.

    Heres the IMDB link

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1332125/?ref_=ttmd_md_nm

and heres a link to both stream or download it:

I thought I was unshockable. Turns out I'm not. Class film.

Hit & Miss - Not a movie I'm afraid. Its a six part series created by Paul Abbott who was responsible for Shameless. Basically it was on the Sky Atlantic channel a couple of years ago. Its pretty good old fashioned northern english depressing stuff. Its about a TS hit'man' and i found it quite entertaining. Well worth watching.

and heres a link to both stream or download - with a list of episodes:
