Just wondering if any of our members suffer from any type of disability, & if so, how does it affect their dressing. I myself suffer from Multiple Sclerosis since 2001. At first it wasn't a problem, but is getting progesively worse as the years go by. Not in a wheelchair yet, but my balance & walking leaves a lot to be desired. Heels are a complete no no (except for sitting photos) and having trouble with fiddly things like suspenders, bras etc. Anyone have the same problems?

    Hi Nina

I don't know if it is you, but I have seen a Tgirl a few times at Manchester Concord, who is always accompanied by her friend. And Concord is not exactly friendly towards anyone with disabilities as you need to go up several flights of stairs.

When I think of it you can easily get into many places in the Manchester Village as they are often on the ground floor - but few (if any) offer toilet facilities on the same floor. To go to the loo usually means going up or down flights of stairs.

Like you I would like to know how many members here need more assistance...and more space to be able to get out and about as transgendered peeps.

    hugs

Nina, if this makes you feel any better i'm not that good on heels either!
Paddys Goose has loo's on the same floor, but that's being refurbished at the moment.

Outskirts in Birmingham meet in a lounge bar where the toilets are up half a dozen steps. I asked on behalf of a possible visitor what arrangements they had for the disabled to be told that of course they had a disabled toilet on the ground floor, they had been obliged by regulations to put one in. The problem was no-one had ever used it so they had removed the signs and were using it for bar storage. They were more than happy, however, on a couple of hours' notice of a disabled visitor to clear & clean the toilet to make it available.

So perhaps more venues do have such facilities to comply with the law but are 'temporarily out of order' for similar reasons?

    Always worth asking I suppose.

Nina, I can certainly empathise with you. Trines, the fact that they have got a "disabled" toilet but have removed the signs and need to have a few hours notice when someone is likely to need to use it, may well be breaking the law anyway, at least it seems to me to be in breach of the "spirit" of the legislation. If they say they removed the signs because nobody ever used it, isn't that Catch 22?x

I wasn't condoning their action Mal, simply quoting their example which indicates it's worth asking at any venue. They also said if a disabled person turned up unexpectedly they would instantly tidy it up a bit for immediate use though the visitor may have to sit surrounded by some crates of spirits and beer! If that were me I would be in there a very long time and I would have to wheeled out in a chair afterwards (or was that a poor joke in very bad taste?) x x

Lol Trines! Now that's a good idea, but I suspect they would charge you for all the alcohol you had consumed whilst waiting! xxx

I'm close friends with a very disabled Tgirl that ive been privy to spend good time with, she loves becoming a woman and i believe she is one of the most attractive tgirls ive met, in a wheel chair from a young age, don't let a disability stop you doing what ever you feel like doing generally where theres a will theres a way, sexually its all good too, just do things slightly different, regarding getting dressed well if no one is available to help forget suspenders just wear hold ups, do your bra up on your belly then turn it around, stretchy dresses with no zips, slingback shoes, if you are going out and struggle with heels think about leggings and boots as they can be more comfortable plus hot looking, some of the hottest looks can be really basic clothes

I have just found out I will be legally blind once the papers are filed, though my vision won't change when they do. Having low vision makes make up more difficult but you can't see how bad it is anyhow . My colour sense is still good sp ce la vie.

I have been recently diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis in both knees, whilst i can walk most of the time there will come a point when i may not be able to. It wont stop me expressing my feeling through womens cloths but it may hinder any posible nights out.
