Hi all,
It's been a while since I have been on here and a first for me writing a blog, I'm not on here as much now, family issues etc, however there is a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.....
So my wife and I took a day off today and went out to a National Trust property not far from where we live. That may not be of much interest to some although it is to me as we have been members of the 'NT' for a few years now and whenever we have been in close proximity to one of their places on our travels, I am reluctant to visit as Christine because my membership card is gender specific, Mr etc and I would have been very uneasy to visit en-femme.
Therefore Jan, my wife called The National Trust and asked if they could make my membership card just my initial and surname, no Mr etc, Jan said 'My husband is transgendered and would like a membership card that wouldn't cause an issue at the entrance gate etc', I also thought it may save their staff/volunteers any awkwardness.
They could not have been more helpful, they asked her exactly how I wanted my name on the card and said it would be issued asap, hence todays visit to 'Woolsthorpe Manor,'
I was expecting huge alarms, sirens, pointing of fingers, as my card was scanned, but nothing, just a nice young girl greeting us and scanning our cards and giving us info about things to see.
We had a lovely afternoon, then a late lunch at a pub, I had some wine too to round off the day, which is so not like me, if you see any photos of me with a glass of vino then it's been photoshopped!!! Hehehehe!
