As my mind was wandering today while teaching a high school music theory class, I began to think that you all in the UK seem to be having an awful lot of fun.
So much great music! So many T-Girls!
Seriously, is there something unusual in the water you're drinking over there. If so, can you send me some?
Other than my two daughters, probably the most important things in my life are music and being transgender.
So many of my favorite bands have come from the UK, beginning with the "British Invasion" of the 1960's (oops, I'm showing my age again), and up through today: Beatles, Stones, Yardbirds, Animals, Zombies, Jethro Tull, Yes, Genesis, Bowie, Police, Queen, Pink Floyd.......I mean, sure there's lots of great American music, but we have almost 5 times as many people as you!!
And then there's all the T-Girl action that seems to be happening over there. I've noticed this sice joining Transtastic a few weeks ago. I've been meeting and chatting to some wonderful people through Transtastic, and they are mostly from the UK.....AND, it looks like there are so many opportunities for going out together and being yourselves over there.
Hmmmm, I really must get over there sometime.
I'm interested in any kind of reaction to my ramblings here, whether funny or serious.
Do you think that creatity and the arts might be promoted more in the UK than in the states? Maybe that's one reason why there so much great music coming from the UK?
And what about being transgender? Do you think that society is more tolerant of such things over on the right side of the pond?
Thanks for listening, and I hope to see you sometime "over there"
Nina xx
