    The magic dress

I don’t know if it’s only me....but I have spent a large portion of my life in a ceaseless search for the perfect dress! When I say perfect a mean a dress that may not look anything special while hanging on a shop rack or in a thumbnail on a website…but…When you slip it on, for some magic potion/formula of cut, colour and fit, it makes you look a million dollars and more gorgeous than you could possibly have imagined!

Over the years I have found a few, a very few, magic dresses, some worn literally till they have worn out, some became what I mistakenly decided was out of style and was old fashioned rather than chic vintage and threw out or put in the charity shop!.....all of which I now regret and dream about these lost magic garments at night.

In the process I have a wardrobe filled with magic dress failures, dresses that stepped up to the stage in front of the X factor judges and were found wanting, leaving in tears!

One M&S, coral coloured dress I must have bought while on hallucinogenic drugs! What prompted me to buy it was the magic dress syndrome! well you just don’t know, it might lying there in the carrier bag and be the frock version of the holy grail.

I have dresses from Oasis, Topshop, Harvey Nic’s own brand and primada, etc but there are two dresses that hang there, giving off a golden aura in the dark recesses of my wardrobe and I know that if I am attending a special date or party, these dresses will guarantee I get laid and they’ll end up lying in a sticky heap on a bedroom floor somewhere.

Every girls magic dress will be different to anyone else’s, there’s no formula or style, it might be a skater dress, tea dress, A-line or chiffon but as you slip into it the magic will happen and you’ll look in the mirror and you’ll know, you’ve found your magic dress!

Now having found my magic dress…… I now need to find some magic knickers pronto!

    Happy hunting!

  • teddy johnson Loved the fact that you took the time to write about this. We guys have that same vision of a woman in that million dollar dress and yes that we must have her no matter what it takes. There is something to be said for a woman who hunts for this dress...  more
  • Andrea Caskin that's the objective Teddy! to see a look of appreciation, adoration and unadorned lust in my man's eyes! it makes all the searching and preparing worthwhile! XXX
