And the beat goes on...

I'm approaching one month full time at work, and to be honest, even the downsides are positive.

I have (almost) become used to the getting up earlier, and I have got into a routine for ensuring that I don't take too long.

I select my next day's clothes before I go to bed, and I have also taken to showering at night, rather than in the morning, saving myself 10 minutes! It doesn't sound like much, but it means the first digit on the clock when I wake up is now a 6 not a 5. This is a massive psychological boost.

This month has taught me some lessons that real women learned early on. Make-up doesn't last very long if you're using it every day and you never have enough clothes.

I thought when I started this that I would have enough clothes. That was wrong. However, I like shopping. I've added just a few separates to my wardrobe, but it's given me a wider scope as to what to wear each day. Stilettos are not sensible office wear. So I didn't have enough shoes, either. However, did I mention I like shopping? I've added a couple of pairs of boots (gorgeous they are), a pair of flats and I'm going to add in a pair of trainers. If you'd asked me last year if I'd ever wear trainers as a girl, I'd have laughed at you. I'd probably have done the same with jeans. Now I regularly wear jeans, flats are essential and I'm going to get some trainers! What happened?

My first tube of foundation lasted 18 months. Probably well beyond it's shelf life. If I get 3 months out of this one, I'll be amazed. I've used up an eye-liner pencil, and a lipstick. My blusher will need replacing very soon, and my bronzing powder has a big hole in the middle. Basically, make-up doesn't last very long at all!

I wish baldness didn't run in my family, so I could let my real hair grow, as I'm wearing my wig every day. I'm going to have to get an identical one before long, or risk looking like a bag lady. I want an identical one, because my hairstyle has become part of who I am; I don't like the idea of changing that look on a whim in the morning.

I thought living one life would be less expensive than living two.

    It isn't!

But would I change a single thing? Absolutely not. I am still loving this. I don't think I've ever been so happy for so long.

  • Pauline Smith If you can I would buy at least 2 or 3 wigs - so that they can "rest" and be washed less often; plus it may mean that you experiment with another colour or style. Ideally you need at least 7 wigs - or if you only have 2 you will need to replace...  more
