Transgender Memorial, and Fundraising.

OK, yesterday I scooted off down Sunny Manchester, for the Carving of a beautiful memorial to Transgender people, who have had their lives, sadly ended, way too soon!

This Memorial for all trans people, of any degree, Male to Female, Female to Male, and everyone who remotleys identifys under the term Trans.

So, I got to Manchester for around 1'clock, and could instantley hear the Buzzing of the Chainsaw, and was pretty excited to see, what it was becoming this huge 3.5 Ton piece of a tree....

So, after a good Hour chattting to people, seeing the memorial coming together, it came the time to try some fundraising for the maitence of the Memorial, so off i went with a Collection Bucket down Canal Street, and people gave more than Generously, to say the least! But, I was left annoyed by one Lesbian Women, Her and Her Partner, were both sat there, and asked really politley of they could spare anything, wich one of them did, and I thanked her for it! But, one of the Women, decided to totally Ignore me, and turn her Chair around, and face the Canal...

So, that Brings onto the Subjet of the whole LGBT Community, my thoughts, is yes us the T, have been Silent, but now we're finding our Voices, and getting what we deserve slowly, but sureley, yet the Ignorance of that one person really annoyed me, and my whole mindset is, if we don't stick together, then we'll never accomlish anything!

Anyhow, that's my little rant over, and from what I can Gather, Via will be keeping the Donations Buckets, on the Doors, so if anyone pops in Via, please ask, and give what you can, this memorial can not, exist, without us all chipping in! It's a Worlds first, and we all should be damn proud, the donations have the potential to make this memorial much more, including laying name Plaques down, Lighting, and very nice flower bed!

  • Deborah Taylor Putting aside the one downer, this is a great memorial to those that have lost their lives BECAUSE they are trans. And the memorial looks good, and appropriate. Thanks for posting Jenn.
  • Deleted Member I've had a few run ins with lesbians in the past but I've also had some great times with many lesbian girls and even had relationships with a couple. There are always going to be lesbians who will always see us as men, and yes that even includes post ops...  more
  • Pauline Smith I was talking to the owner of Via at Sparkle and he kindly showed me the memorial gardens where the Statue was going to be placed and said the first rose bushes were in - which would eventually fill the garden - Sparkle and Remembrance are the two types...  more
