                                    Warning slight rant

So, recently my hopes had been quite high for learning new Skills, and Brushing up on maths Skills, last month my lovely adviser, at the Job Centre, booked me onto some courses with Learn Direct, and after being very happy about this, the fact, I could have the opportunity to improve on my Maths and I'T Skills, so the day finally came, last week, and the lovely people of Learn Direct cancel on me.

So, that aside, as I signed on last week, wich I flipping hate doing, but essential for my survival, and withing my rights after 8 years of paying into the public pot, and whilst signing on, i asked them to pass the message onto my adviser, that Learn Direct, had cancelled, on me, and failed to contact me, back in order to re arrnage the dates, for the courses.

So, then the next Course I was offered, was named " Finding and getting a job "( Yay )

Anyway this crap is done, through some private contracted firm, in a clapped out Bolton next to Crompton place, here in Bolton, I turn up today, for the course, and withing 5 minutes I realised I was in for a seriously annoying day....

Imagine, yourself in my position, 25 years of Age, and remotley intilligent, with Common sense to boot ( a lot of the people, on this course, lacked any sense )

So, yes the day rolls on, and these people, were all between the ages of 16 to ...51 the 51 year old chap, being the only decent person to speak to... so, after watching these people continually ignore the lady who is speaking, and continue to throw Pens, and pencils at each other from the other side of the room, and even attempt to access porn on the computers, the day just got more exciting, eventually the topics of this course come onto to CV writing, and thanks to Pauline, who helped me out a lot with mine, I felt what was being said defeated the purpose of being me there, and the day rolled on, of the lady trying to talk down to me, and not getting my humourous tone, in the way I was speaking to her, and her trying to show me to alter, your CV, to your job ( well, I've been doing that, for every job, I've applied for ) So, I ask maybe i should leave, and mentioned I don't feel I can achieve nothing here, with all the fools in the room, and told sure, leave, but if you, we'll sanction your money for 13 weeks.... ( Brill, trapped )

So, after that farce, i continued to Humour my way through the day, and keep my head up, finally, the day came to an end, and the lady, saying " Oh, i forgot to put your name, on the board for coming back Wednesday, for One to One, Interview techniques" My reply, is it mandatory, or optional ? thankfully Optional, so a big no thanks, and at least at the end of this miserbale day, I printed 5 different versions of my CV for her, to keep, and look at, and said, this was a truly a waste of my time, and mentioned the fact, that I'm on hold for Starting at Primark, anytime soon.

    Rant over

  • Pauline Smith and Carol Tights like this
  • Andrea Kalisha Simpson If I sign on for jsa they just ask me if I am looking and say ok they cannot help for that type of work.So I don't get hassle from them at all the longest I signed on was 6 weeks.
  • Josephine Green I have only ever signed on for a period of 6 weeks when I was made redundant 5 years ago. Only one interview - "Oh you're over qualified for us to help.". Financial outcome was negative as I had to pay tax on my JSA which I was never paid!...  more
  • Deborah Taylor My only experience of the Job Centre was way back. Fresh out of university, I went to sign on, I had 5 interviews lined up for jobs similar to what I do now, was on the books at half a dozen agencies, and had a fairly firm job offer from one of the two...  more
  • Kaity Wallace Ahh, the job centre... finally got to tell them to get the f*** out of my life this week after 18 months of being interrogated, insulted and sent on bloody stupid courses every fortnight. If anyone else treated their clients in such a downright rude...  more
