' I don't have a problem with God per say, it's his fanclubs I've got the problem with'... Anon

I have been in a strange sort of reflective mood of just late, ponding life, the universe and everthing a tendency I do have, not that I'm any sort of philosopher, I don't know any Phils anyway. However, I do like to now and again, stop smell the flowers and watch the world go by.

So I was wondering whether due to the recent and ongoing ecomonic decline, ( no I don't believe the government's BS of how well we're all doing), it effects people's tolerence for those of us who follow a different path in life.

The seems to be, and this is only my personnal opinion, that there has been a turning to the consvertive god fearing right of society, a almost slavish devotion to money and a greater divide between 'us and them'. Ok I'm not so navie to believe these attitudes have not been in our society for a long time. I'm one of Maggie's bastard generation, those forgotten unemployed  of Maggie T's regin of terror. It seems to me the only people winning in this 'ecomonic recovery' are those who believe the rest of us should no-more than serfs.

William Beveridge stated that a society had to slay the five 'Giant Evils' to become turely civilised, these were or are squalor, ignorance, want, idleness and disease. Clement Attlee, tried to fight these 'Evils' he built homes, gave us free education, for a while time full employment, social security and he gave us NHS. All aimed at making us a better society. So what would Attlee say about the food banks and squalid living conditions, the slap dash approach to education, the high unemployment, the benefit systems that seems out of control and the backdoor privatisations of the NHS, that today's photo opportunistic, shallow, vain gutless PM regins over today. (Btw that bit works just as for Blair as does for Cameron)

More well off a society's citizens feels the more open and tolerent they are, the more downtodden, depressed and fearful the intolerent they become looking for a scapegoat to blame and the more they listen to small minded nutjobs.

Maybe I'm just being over cynical about things or maybe I should start a revolution......or get elected as Prime Minister now that would be dangerous................
