Coming out - One month on

I've now finished my first month full-time at work and I'm still relishing every day, well almost, Friday is casual day and I can never decide what to wearI'm seeing a pattern now, Monday to Thurday, arrive at work early as usual, Friday...mad rush and always stuck behind a Sunday driver..grrr.

    So, what have I learnt?

    • The girls at work love to chat about anything, and I love it too.
    • They keep asking me if I'm on a diet. I know some of you will hate me, but I can eat anything and still sit around 8.5 stone. They hate me too lol
    • Less is more when it comes to makeup
    • The cardigan is probably the most important item in a girl's wardrobe
    • There are roughly 18 billion ways to wear a scarf. I've mastered 3 so far.
    • Most people just accept things. In the last month I've had 3 bad experiences. 1. Van load of skivvies..obviously too thick to be able to navigate to work on their own; 2. Tesco customer services using the wrong pronoun. 3. Tesco customer services shouting "There's a gentleman here...". I've learnt that Tesco don't do anything about customer complaints..their loss.

    Onto the best bit, kids.

    • My son is 9 going on 15, as are his friends. Last weekend I was in charge and had 5 friends round. They were all cool.
    • Our friend's eldest found out. He was fine and he told his younger brother. He basically said there are tomboys and tomgirls. Life is so simple
    • Our other friend's daughter is 4 and totally cute. She used to ask for David all the time, but now she asks for Lizzy. She's never been told. I bumped into her and her mum today and she wanted a big hug from Lizzy when she had to go.

What happened to the kid in us all??

  • Josephine Green What you say rings so true. If you aren't a threat women will include you in conversations about anything. Oh and the cardy and scarf are so right. Have a lovely time.
  • Michelle Adams Great to hear things are going well Liz, but what/who the hell are "skivvies"? Please educate me.
  • Deborah Taylor I concur about the cardigan. A vital invention. I now own 5. I'm glad it's going well for you - and yes, I'm jealous as hell, I've been on a diet since January, and shifted just over a stone whilst half starving myself. Grr.
  • Deleted Member its just so wonderful that you have been accepted not just at work but at home to I does give me hope for other girls who are about to take the first step and the best is the children as they are just so accepting I wish we could all see the world again...  more
