Coming out to work - first steps part 5

    Tuesday 13th May 2014

At 3.35 today I legally changed my name to Elizabeth, witnessed by my amazing HR manager. I think she was as excited by it as I was. She also told me that the CEO was planning on telling the executive board today and asked if I would be OK with that. I had no hesitation, as far as I am concerned, the sooner the better.

She sent me the following email (slightly edited to protect people's identity)

I just informed the Exec team.

They want you to know that you have their full support. I was very happy with the reaction. One made the point that you are someone who is held in very high regard by employees and clients alike and this will go a long way in terms of how people receive the news.

It seems that so far the reaction has been the same from everyone and so the CEO is feeling confident that the overall reaction will be very positive.

He’s happy for me to inform the Ops Board on 20th May but wondered if, after that, you’d rather move sooner to inform the organisation? (subject to agreeing the communication plan) – So I just wanted to check if the suggested dates were important for any reason or whether you’d rather move sooner?

    Someone pinch me lol
