Yet another good day

Well, I've done it again. Exactly a week after my first very tremulous approah to the Boots No7 counter, I did it again. This afternoon, I happened to be in Newcastle buying stockings at John Lewis - the girls there are really friendly and helpful, then looking for a short pull-on skirt at M&S - because of my physique, I cannot get away with fixed waist bands, I need pull-ons - I seemed drawn to Boots, and the No7 counter. Lynn, the lady who was so helpful last week was nowhere to be seen, but another assistant came up to me, smiled, and asked if she could be of help. I didn't need to explain anything, she just said that I looked as if I wanted some advice, and she was there to help me. Before I could mention the word "tranny", she sat me down, and did another test on my skin, and came up with the same result as Lynn. She asked if I would like her to do my foundation, but not so it would be particularly noticeable to the casual observer. What a chance, so of course I said yes, with a broad smile. She said "has that made you happy?" Happy, yes indeed.

She started with concealer around my nose and on 3 moles on my cheeks, working it in with her fingers. Then the foundation, Applied to my cheeks, nose, brow, chin and neck with a sponge, and her fingers. The result looked brilliant, imperfections ironed out, but since the foundation and concealer was correct for my skin type, not obvious to the outside world.

She asked if I was having  trouble with the eyes, she said "lots of you girls do, and I love helping." She illustrated how to do it on the back of my hand, and spent some considerable time on the task, taking me step by step. What surprised me was that I didn't feel the least bit embarrassed or self conscious, despite sitting on a high stool within sight and sound of a really busy store.

I bought some solid powder to match my foundation and skin type, a brush, a small pallette of eye make up in bronze/brown shade, a pack of 10 small applicators and a jar of Overnight Radiance Boost. Plus, a free gift of mascara, felt tip eye liner and a blusher brush.

A lovely experience again, and I can honestly suggest to any girl here that they should take courage in both hands, put your nerves to one side, and even if you just hang around the stand, someone will come and offer to help. Obviously the staff are trained to treat us girls with respect, especially if we appear, as I did, in drab. No need to explain anything, just let the girls do what they are trained to do. This week, as last, both girls said that they would be happy to do a full make up to any girl, especially in the evenings before going to a meet or club.

A lot of the problems we girls face are in our own minds. Noone was more nervous than me. But the experience of being treated very well two weeks running has been a huge boost to my own morale.
