A good day

I tried, and failed, last night to make my face look somewhat presentable. I had bought some items in M&S - lipstick, eye liner, foundation and eye shadow. Sitting in front of the mirror last night, the end result was like something out of a Dracula movie. You see, in all my years of dressing, I have never done my own make up. It used to be Ann at the Philbeach, and one or two other girls who made me look womanly. So, remembering all I had been taught, I tried, I really tried, but the result was horrendous. So, what to do?

I had heared about the Boots skin test, so I decided that I would give it a try. Only snag, It would have to be in drab. I was fine until I got to the large make up department in Newcastle, then my courage failed. I walked around the No7 stand for ages, pretending to be interested. Eventually, a lady called Lynn  came up to me and asked if I needed help. She had such a friendly face, that I decided then and there that I would reveal all to her. I said I was new to the Tranny game (lie, but so what), and needed help. She did the test on my skin in several locations around my face. There was I, sitting on a stool in full view of a very busy store, and, do you know? I didn't care! She took a great deal of trouble, and eventually selected a concealer and a foundation, and proceeded to demonstrate on my face how to apply them. I thought to myself, why not get everything I need here, it will save having to explain somewhere else. So, concealer, foundation, blue eye make up, eye liner, lip balm, moisturising cream, and other fine bottles and jars of skin care.

She offered to do my make up there and then, which i had to decline, but I did go out of the store with concealer and foundation in place. She suggested that if I was going out in the evening, then I could pop in there, and she, or one of the other girls would be only too happy to make me up fully. She said I could come in drab if I wanted, but wouldn't it be better if I came dressed - she would do my wig for me as well.

Girls, I feel I have crossed a bar. I have sat in public having make up applied, and walked out wearing foundation. No one took a blind bit of notice. I went from Boots to M&S, and bought several items in the lingerie department, including panties, a camisole, a bra and a lovely silky slip for sleeping in. Plus some new shoes and a skirt.

Girls, can I recommend Boots service. Lovely understanding girls, very professional, good value for money, and a great boost to morale. Now, the hard bit - trying to do a better make up job tonight than I managed yesterday.

  • Deleted Member Ms. Wade, Boots sounds wonderful (we don't have them in the US)! Let's face it, there are lots of T-girls out there, and most are uneasy about buying make-up, etc. Any store that goes out of its way to make us feel welcome and give us a few tips is...  more
  • Josephine Green I have often visited the Boots No 7 counter in both drab and drag. They are so friendly and helpful. My latest reason for the visit was because I now need to wear glasses more often - so change in make up. The lady was very helpful pointing out the new...  more
