This is some thing that is really if ever mentioned on sites like this , not sure why but may be its time it was.

I have been trained in sexual health by Eddyston trust and during this trainning i was amazed at some of the figgers and facs .

Did you know the biggest group at risk from HIV is married people age betwen 40 and 55 both men and women have had a huge increase in reported cases The LGB population at risk is on the decline . This is due to the work done by loads of organisations , and self awearness .

So what are the risks well if you have unprotected sex you can catch a whole range of things so its qquit simple use a CONDOM you can even get them free from most gay bars GUM clincs and your GP .

If you have had unproteceted sex what can you do ?

Visit your local GUM clinic they do a simple blood test its a small prick to put your mind at rest results are normaly text to you in 5 days ish . There service is compleatly confidential and no one will know you have even been there, what if you have sex unprotected and you think they might have HIV ?

Again get down the gum ASP they have a treatment called PEPS it last a month and can help stop the spread of HIV they will also carry out blood test to determin your satus . The treatment is not nice but way better than finding out 3 months later you have HIV and then your in for a life time of treatment NO there is no cure as of yet !!

Remember the only real way to stop getting an STI is to wear a CONDOM

There are loads of good web sites out there that will give you more information so think safe be safe and keep safe

Remember HIV is for life .

  • Carol Tights Excellent article Rebecca with a reminder for all of us to wear a condom and, play safe. The consequences of not using one aren't worth it. Big kisses xxx
