Its funny (peculiar not ha ha) that I have a special item on BBC News on my ipad for Gay Rights but I cannot do the same on a Microsoft laptop. So these links are brought after cutting and pasting via 2 devices.

In a week where Obama lectured Africa on it's attitudes to gay rights and gay and transgendered people that could have been the big news ticket. Instead, with the exception of a C Jenner link, I have focused on the UK.

Article 1 Should gay men and lesbians and trans people be lumped together in one rainbow?

This viewpoint article takes a historical look at the LGBT movement in the UK

As you can see from this 1977 photo there have been activists fighting for rights for quite a while. The trans community has come somewhat late to the "party" but is in my view now starting to punch above it's weight.

Article 2 : C Jenner says " I thought about suicide while transitioning".

Even though she is a celebrity - olympic athlete and part of the Kardashian circus - it doesn't mean she isn't going through the doubts so many of us have (whether we transition or not). I think she is much more fortunate than us "normal everyday people", but that is just my view; and she has opened many doors by coming out so publicly. She even made Women's Hour on Radio 4 top women of 2015.

Article 3 - Newcastle Pride 2015 - thousands march through the streets

Article 4 - Brighton Pride: Exhibitions mark 25th event

In 1991 Brighton Pride started with 4 days of protest, fil, music and picnics in Preston Park. This year it's grown into a much bigger event.

Any comments or links to other events will be much appreciated. I know that we have just celebrated Sparkle 15 with around 10.000 visitors to Manchester, but we are more and more accepted at LGBT Pride events not just in the Uk but in many other places.

  • Josephine Green Brighton this week is Trans Pride. Brighton Pride is next weekend. One of the organisers of Trans Pride said that they and Sparkle had "fallen out" over who was the bigger trans event. So if you're going to Brighton Pride next weekend don't...  more
  • Pauline Smith Being LGBT is like being a member of a Christian (choose your own religion if you are not) sect - always fighting ourselves and not doing a publicity job on what great peeps we are. To be honest who cares whether Brighton or Sparkle is bigger - isn't it...  more
