  Transgender Day of Remembrance -

  16.30 23 November 2014 - Sackville Gardens, Manchester.

   

  Unfortunately I have had very little free time since then to put this blog together, not just as remembrance for all the transgendered people who died but also for all of the 186 people who attended this years memorial. Now that I have I hope that you find this blog as moving as the memorial was.

   

  It was held in a tent in the Gardens, just off Canal Street and comprised of speeches from various people in our community, with especially moving ones from Jane, Jenny-Anne and Tony, as well as readings of the names of those who died in the last year for being transgendered(mainly in Brazil). Most were murdered.

   

  There were also very moving and some uplifting songs from the LGBT choir and Hayley Ria Christian. The memorial finished with a candle light procession from the tent to the TG memorial where we left our flowers and candles.

   

  The organising committe for TDoR 2014 was Jenny Anne Bishop, Tony D Cooper, Jane Owen and Dawn Pomfret. 

   

   

   

  The Sparkle Board of Trustees has taken TDoR and the national Trans memorial under its wing and made the following statement about TDoR .....

   

  "In July we have time to celebrate all that is positive and fulfilling about Trans life, the friendships, the support systems and the steps towards equality and recognition that havebeen made not only in this country but in others as as well.

   

  Today is the day that we take time to remember those who have died in the fight to get that recognition and those that run out of fight and those who were brutally murdered for being themselves.

   

  You were known to us and we will remember you"
