Software Upgrade Dream Becomes A Nightmare!

    Apologies if you experienced any disruption at Transtastic recently.  As we explained, we have had the builders in.  They've been replacing some of our old software with new stuff and adding new functionality too.  

    The picture above shows the old server room at Transtastic Towers.  When the work is complete we will have some amazing new stuff though and the site will be pretty damn fast.  We recently clocked our main page loading time at around 7 seconds.  That was really good and there’s room for further improvement on that too.  However, it seems to have gotten a bit slower again.  We're still working on it though.

    For those who are a bit geeky, we tried to make the leap to PHP 7 which apparently runs at twice the speed of its predecessors.  However, that completely broke the site and when we rolled back to the previous version, the main page was taking up to four minutes to load.  It took our developers several days to figure out what the problem was during which time you must have been really cross that your Transtastic was running at a snail's pace.  In the end it turned out to be partly down to a MySQL prob.  As soon as it was fixed, the pages started loading fast again.

    Next we moved on to the main event - upgrading our Albums, fixing the Safe activity feed (which was not working properly and still letting cockshots through) and installing automated AI-based image moderation for profile picture uploads.  

    That work is still ongoing and it seems to have caused a fair bit of disruption on its own, so sorry again for that.

    I hope it won't take too much longer and that we will soon have a site which is blisteringly fast and totally brilliant.

    When that day comes I will let you know that the work is complete and I will then need to ask for your help in mounting the biggest marketing campaign Transtastic has ever undertaken.

  • magnolia devilland please help! there is no way i can get to the home page (error500)  I cant sign in directly i have to go to albums forum blogs etc before i can even sign in then when i do i cannot get to the home page
