Okay so it's a bit of a distressing tendency I've had to put up with for a very long time and frankly, I'm sick of it. I know it's always going to be there and there'll never be anything I can do about it but it basically boils down to this.
Cis-het person: I'm more human than you.
Now this is kinda alright because I'm proud to say they're right on this occasion. I don't consider myself human so yeah. However...
Lesbian/Gay Person: I'm more LGBT than you?
What?
Bisexual Person who sleeps with three men per night: I'm more bisexual than you.
I think you need to learn what bisexuality is.
Trans Man: I'm more transgender than you?
Really? How do you define this?
Butch Trans Woman: I'm more of a woman than you.
Give me a break.
Feminine Trans Woman: I'm more of a woman than you.
You're more something than me, maybe.
Seriously. Is this oneupmanship a requirement for living in human society? Is there any hope of people seeing each other as equals or, like the pigs in Animal Farm, does everyone think that some people are more equal than others?
Seriously. I've had enough of it.
