Whats in a name?

I came across this and got quite excitable!

    http://www.puffswithpolish.com

An LGBT cleaning company, employing LGB and Trans? Whats not to like? Lets employ our own!

Then I thought about the name: 'Puffs with Polish'. Thats funny, tongue in cheek, approachable, even... cool?

Puffs with polish conjures an image, conjures jokes?

But then I thought about the word 'puffs'.

Is it funny? Is it hurtful? Is it empowering to take ownership of a word that the muggles use to hurt? Is it like rappers claiming to be 'niggaz'?

Or does it paint 'Trans' into a stereotype of being 'puffs' in frocks? Do we care?

I love the idea of this company and I wish them well, heck - I'd even use them!

  • Peter Oram More power to them, though one could also say that their hiring policy could be against equal opportunity employment.
  • Pauline Smith Seems like a good idea - plus being a play on words, and I guess their compliance with equal opportunity laws is that they employ men and women. P xxx PS I would use them after I have tidied up my place
  • Elizabeth (Liz) Arlington-Lee Puff's with polish ? i thought i read "Puff's with Polish" as in Mr Sheen, or is that is it with a "Polish Penetrator" as in a pole with a penetrator?x
  • Carol Tights Good blog Julie. Think that anything that can show the LGBT community in a positive light is a good thing. Wish them all the success in the world and, agree with Pauline use them after I have tidied up xxxx
