Never been one to avoid controversy SO here goes.....
I'm suddenly questioning Drag Queens..... Why? Well I keep being told to support drag queens, drag queens are 'us', drag queens are loud and proud and blaze a trail for us. The recent documentary 'Teenage Drag Queen' seemed to meet with great approval from the Transtastic Community. It has been suggested we all support Johnny Robinson on X-Factor because he's been a Drag Queen. Drag Queens are 'us' and they are at the front of transgender rights
ARE THEY???????? They hold us back? They dress as women to make fun of them? Their sequins and campness destroy our credibility? If we have issues with our gender, we are branded gay drag queens?
I remember at University, our Rugby Team dressed in drag for a week for charity. It was proper guy-drag, big balloons on their chests poking out of tiny dresses. Hilarious? Pushing back gender boundaries?
Are Drag Queens 'trannies'? I'm not convinced.
Please don't take this questioning as being biggotted or even homophobic, I just wanted to explore where Drag Queens fit in our amazing trans continuum.
Love you all,
