Rocky Horror

Well, I've seen the film some years back and recently watched lots of clips on You Tube, but it's strange how the second half of the show seemed at first unfamiliar. Then I realised, the songs, the scenarios, the sheer continuing brilliance, was all familiar, but if anyone had asked me prior to the show, the songs from the latter half would have been a mystery. Forgotten melodies and evocative lyrics that really did feeling as if they had been sent through a time warp. Many of those moments of sheer bliss and wonderment, at being there at that time, experiencing such a phenomena. A show that I now understand more than ever. A melding of a multitude of genres into one seamless piece of theatre. Cross dressing being endorsed by thousands of people in such a publically enthusiastic manner. Exhilarating beyond belief. The sentiment of the end scenes sent sensations of shocked enlightenment throughout my whole body and I was mesmerised by the greatness of it all. Holding back the tears, holding on to friends, the realisation of what it was all about hit home, and I mean really hit home. If only my parents were here to see, the dreams we can live with are the ideas to become - "don't dream it - be it." Those simple words, delivered in the most stylish and perfect way, will be etched in to my mind permanently. Wow! I got it, my God I got it. The relevance, the messages, the optimism, the creativity.....the genius. Lately, the genius of the recently lost David Bowie, has clouded every day. Rocky Horror wasn't the pick-me-up that was required. A tonic in every sense and highly recommended. Walking through the streets of Liverpool after the show in stockings and suspenders further enhanced the night and every beeping horn of passing motorists was a moment to treasure. Those moments become more important the older you get. The fact that we're still here to enjoy life is in itself the the ultimate joy that propels such an experience in to a seminal one. No-one told me that it would take all this time to realise what having a good time was all about, even though we go through the same ritual on each successive new year's eve. This is the stuff great memories are made of - the times we don't have to dream of. This is the time the moment the place - a joy to remember for the rest oh your days. Right, that willing have to be a song.
