The 5th of January is the day of Tranistion at work.
Well what a few months I have had, what with name changes and coming out at work.
After a few chats with HR and the support of everyone at work,an email was sent to all staff,
Everyone,
Firstly I’d like to start with saying thank you for all your support so far. As most of you should be aware I identify as being Transgender and hope to start treatment early 2016. I legally changed my name back in October and I have now completed updating all those organisations that need to know.
I thought I would share some things that I need your continued support on from the 5th of January 2016 but I recognise it may take a little while to change. Please do not be offended if I remind you.
I would like to be addressed as Simone, and of course the pro-nouns that come along with that – female, she, her or even non-gender them/they is fine. I will look a bit different also, and after discussing with HR I will be using the ladies toilets. Just as a reminder I would find it offensive to have he/him used in connection with me.
I have the full support of HR, Union, my managers, and my immediate work colleagues, and I hope to have your support as well.
Please feel free to ask questions and I will answer them the best way I can.
Thank you once again,
Simone
